Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

A Promotion Crisis in the Final Round

The long-delayed elimination final round finally begins. Xiao Yan uses heavenly fire and a heavy sword to press Bai Shan, and victory seems within reach. Then a promotion crisis hits him at the worst possible moment. A successful breakthrough would make him far stronger, and his rivals know it. Xun'er steps forward to protect him, saying she will not stand by any longer.

Three Rivals Agree to Gang Up

Hu Jia, Wu Hao and Bai Shan agree that Xiao Yan is their shared enemy. If he gets through his breakthrough, none of them can catch up, so they decide to remove him from the match now. An official watching the arena notes that the rules have loopholes, but a three-on-one fight does not break them. As long as nobody breaks the rules, the outside observers have no right to interfere, and Xiao Yan's fate depends on his own luck.

Xun'er Takes the Blow

Xun'er moves into the path of the attack and is hurt while trying to shield Xiao Yan. Bai Shan insists he only wants to deal with Xiao Yan, but Xiao Yan refuses to accept that as an excuse. He tells the three rivals that they will not leave the arena unscathed and vows to make Bai Shan pay for Xun'er's injury. The fight turns from a contest of skill into a personal grudge.

Heavenly Fire Lotus Meets Three Attacks

Xiao Yan answers with the first stage of heavenly fire, which carries three mysterious changes, including the Green Lotus Change. Onlookers suspect he has used a secret method to lift his strength temporarily, and some wonder whether he has already reached the Dou Ling realm. The three attackers unleash their own techniques, including Eight Thunder Wilderness, Bloodbreaker Slash, Hidden Forest Venomous Snake Rattan and Buddha's Anger Lotus. The blast that follows buries Xiao Yan in the ruins, and the attackers begin to fear what he might do next.

Top Five Named and the Library Pavilion Opens

The elders officially end the Inner Courtyard selection and name the top five: Hu Jia, Bai Shan, Wu Hao, Xun'er and Xiao Yan. Bai Shan vows to repay Xiao Yan a hundredfold. Afterward, Xiao Yan's cousin Xiao Mei appears and asks to talk about family matters that reach back to the Yunlan Sect. The elders then unlock a sealed space guarded by a charm laid down by Dou Zun practitioners centuries ago, after recognizing Xiao Yan's Green Lotus Core Fire, ranked 19th on the Fire List.
