Battle Through The Heavens Season 5 Episode 14

Episode 14 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

A Four-on-One Siege Breaks the Baisha Captain

Under Xiao Yan's leadership, the new student team has already beaten the Heisha team, which fled rather than face the new disciples. Facing the last senior team, the Baisha squad, Xiao Yan changes tactics. Four of his fighters surround Luo Hou, the Dou Ling captain of Baisha, and press him from all sides. After Xun'er is injured, Xiao Yan decides to use the little Buddha's Fire Lotus Anger, a move that shows his power has grown in the eyes of the other disciples.

An Elder Offers Shelter and Training

After the hunt, an elder tells the new team that the strongest captain is the safest choice in the Inner Courtyard, and that the group can stay together under Xiao Yan. The team cleans out a room that could serve as its residence for a long time. The elder also explains that as long as they have enough fire energy, they can enter the Sky Burning Qi Pagoda to practice, and that this is better than any lesson. Xiao Yan recovers slowly, since the Buddha's Fire Lotus Anger used up a great deal of energy during nearly a week in the forest.

The Teacher Senses the Falling Hearts Fire

Xiao Yan's teacher, the voice inside his mind, notices a peculiar smell coming from the north of the Inner Courtyard. Xiao Yan decides to check it out the next morning. Word spreads that the pagoda is about to open, and disciples rush to claim the best cultivation positions. When Xiao Yan steps inside, the pagoda is full of hot air, yet it was built from cold materials. Something invisible and colorless enters his body, but his Green Lotus Core Fire protects him from the worst of it.

What the Invisible Fire Really Is

The teacher identifies the invisible fire as a manifestation of the Fire of Falling Hearts. It is weaker than the Green Lotus Core Fire and seems to be only a fragment of the true flame, which projects its pieces into the heart. Even so, the fragment can help condense waste douqi and push douqi to a new level. That is why cultivation inside the pagoda moves so quickly, and why the Fire of Falling Hearts is tied to the pagoda's effect on students.

Tribute Demands and a Guardian Elder Steps In

Team Bai demands tribute from the new students, claiming that newcomers should pay at least two powers. Refusing, the new disciples turn down an invitation to join Team Bai for protection. Han Yue, the Yueling Team Leader, sends word to Elder Liu, the guardian of the pagoda's first floor, after she learns Xiao Yan is in the heart fire test. Elder Liu notes that Xiao Yan has lasted nearly 18 minutes, the first person to do so in years. He also explains the pagoda rules: stronger disciples get the middle and high floors closest to the center, while weaker ones are left with the outer rooms, even though the cost is the same.
