Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Bai Cheng Confronts the New Disciples

The episode opens with the White Gang trying to make trouble for the new disciples. Bai Shan brings Fu Ao and others to pick a fight, but Xiao Yan returns at the critical moment, defeats Fu Ao and defends the dignity of the new students. Xiao Yan has also built a new force in the Inner Courtyard, the Pan Gate, with the support of a fellow newcomer. Bai Cheng arrives alone and calls it just a discussion with a junior. Han Yue steps in and says it is hard to watch a senior bully a group of new disciples, and she warns that the White Gang will be disbanded within half a year.

The Pagoda's Fire Poison Rules

When the pagoda gates open, an elder sends a senior to guide the new students to the practice rooms. The Burning Heart Flame makes cultivation fast, but it carries a small amount of fire poison that is absorbed at the same time. Students must spend more than a week on the first floor to adapt before they can move up. The lower the flame, the higher its concentration and the stronger the poison, and douqi cannot expel it. The guide advises the group to practice for half a day, rest and return the next day to avoid damage.

Promotions and the Fallen Heart Flame Breath

The breath Xiao Yan sensed earlier turns out to be the Fallen Heart Flame, though a broken seal stops anyone from confirming its exact nature. Xiao Yan decides to push into the lower levels and reach Dou Ling early, so he can compete for the flame later. Several students announce that they have been promoted, while others point out that higher levels take longer. The bell then rings to signal that the pagoda is closing, and the students head out.

A Training Room Dispute on the Fourth Floor

Xiao Yan gets a green fire crystal card and reaches the fourth floor, where most training rooms are already full. He finally finds an empty room, but Lei Na arrives with a message from Brother Liu Qing: protect Fei'er, who wants that room. Lei Na demands the occupant leave, and Xiao Yan asks for proof that the room belongs to Miss Liu Fei. Lei Na calls the challenge a test of nerve, and Xiao Yan replies that he is not afraid of anything.

Lei Na Learns What a Da Dou Shi Can Do

Lei Na, a four-star Dou Ling practitioner, dismisses Xiao Yan as a mere Da Dou Shi and tells him to apologize. Xiao Yan refuses and says he is able to beat him. He shows that he can emit two fires at once, which surprises Lei Na. Lei Na admits that this Da Dou Shi has several abilities and begins to take the fight seriously, but it is already too late for him to back out. The episode ends with the clash in full swing.
