The Cave Rescue

Xiao Yan retreats into a cave with his medicine spirit while he fights to refine the ninth-grade Xuandan. The soul evil spirit refuses to let go, and Xiao Yan, still weakened, unleashes a desperate blow that badly damages it. Hun Sha still has enough strength to strike back, but at the critical moment Xun'er arrives from the Ancient Road and forces the soul back.

Into the Ancient World

Xun'er takes Xiao Yan into the ancient world, where he meets Gu Yuan. The group quickly moves from survival to strategy, and the conversation turns to the Hun Clan's real ambitions. The attack was not a simple raid, and the elders begin to piece together a much larger plan.

What the Spirit Swallowing Clan Really Is

Gu Yuan explains that the Spirit Swallowing Clan was shaped by Nothingness Swallowing Words, which is why the Hun army could appear together with them. He describes the race as an ancient one that feeds on the blood of other ancient bloodlines to delay its own decline. Many ancient races were wiped out because of them, and the Spirit Swallowing Clan only vanished after joint efforts from many ancient clans.

The Thunder Clan Challenge

Back at the Black Smoke Army camp, Thunder Clan genius Lei Dong challenges Xiao Yan. Several of the Black Smoke Army's fighters have already been beaten, and the Thunder Clan group treats the fight as a test of strength. Xiao Yan takes the challenge, and his speed and fire overwhelm the attacks. Lei Dong's black magic thunder tangles him for a moment, but Xiao Yan swallows it and the rival surrenders.
