Episode 84 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

The Destruction Flame Lotus Turns Against Its Creator

The little medical fairy struggles to stop the old devil while Xiao Yan creates the Destruction Flame Lotus. The lotus badly injures the powerful old devil, but its force grows too great and slips beyond Xiao Yan's control, putting Canaan College in crisis. The hidden strongman Bai Lao steps in, and the old devil ends up buried in his hands. Even so, the toxic stains left behind will take several years to fade, a lasting reminder of how close the academy came to disaster.

Xiao Yan Chooses a Safer Path

Xiao Yan knows the Destruction Flame Lotus is powerful but not yet mastered, and relying on it as a trump card carries too much risk. Before he sets out for Zhongzhou, he needs to raise his strength by the fastest and most reliable route. A scroll maker's soul mark provides the answer: a trace of an earth-level intermediate fighting skill that improves overall strength. Liuhe Youshen is among the training methods, and each one needs a place where fire energy is extremely pure. The inner courtyard's Tianchu Qi Refining Tower fits that need.

The Great Elder Weighs the Cost

Xiao Yan plans to inject a ray of heart fire source into the Tianchu tower's fire pot, which was once charged with the Fire of the Fallen Heart during an original trial. The great elder warns that this will cost the college heavily, since the Fallen Heart Flame belongs to the inner courtyard and the tower has grown quieter without it. Xiao Yan promises to do his best to create an eternal flame of heart for the tower. The elder cautions him not to be hasty, saying that cultivation must match one's real abilities, and Xiao Yan agrees not to act carelessly.

Into the Magma World

The great elder leads Xiao Yan to the bottom of the Qi Refining Tower, where fire energy burns hot. The elder warns that the magma world is far less comfortable than it looks. Xiao Yan says his strange fire protects him from ordinary flames, and the blazing energy below is exactly what he needs. He is told to send a signal if something unexpected happens. Once he goes in, Xiao Yan feels an inexplicable call and notices that the magma world looks just as it did when he left last time, with no sign of life and a feeling of depression everywhere.

The Liuhe Technique and a Hidden Call

Xiao Yan works through the Liuhe swimming technique, moving through attack and defense, advance and retreat, fire crack and swimming in fire. The energy he draws in is more than he expects, but he was prepared for it. Diving deeper, he finds that the Fallen Heart Flame reacts strongly to something below, and the call he felt leads to figures that are not human. They were summoned by the lizard people, and he realizes he cannot compete with them. Hiding first, he decides, is the wisest move.
