Episode 57 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

A Wedding Day Turns Into a War

On Gu He and Yun Yun's wedding day, Xiao Yan gathers the Jia Ma Empire's forces at the foot of Yun Lan Mountain and swears to eliminate the Yun Lan Sect. Gu He, a strong alchemist, is happily waiting for the ceremony, but Yunshan has promised the Soul Hall envoy that he will uphold the law. To keep Gu He from interfering, Xiao Yan sets up a ten-step agreement. Gu He loses by ten steps, Ying Nuo leaves, and the plan to win Gu He over fails. The revenge war with Yunshan starts from there.

Xiao Yan Mocks Yunshan's Speed

Xiao Yan opens with the Three Heavenly Flame Mysterious Transformations and a Glaze Transformation, then taunts Yunshan that his speed is only useful against a Dou Huang. Yunshan answers with a coated-wing move, but Xiao Yan judges his strength to be almost unchanged from three years ago. A move that breaks Yunshan's eight pillars follows, and Xiao Yan points out that reusing an old move still makes Yunshan look weak.

Yao Chen's Soul Body Steps Into Battle

The Soul Hall side is stunned when Xiao Yan's trump card is revealed, and the Jia Ma side asks when they ever had such a powerful man. A Soul Hall figure recognizes the soul body and says he did not expect Yao Chen to come alone. The Soul Hall has spent a lot of effort chasing him, and it says a body-less Yao Chen is much weaker than before, so it is hard to kill him even if it acts.

The Soul Hall Tries to Lock Down a Soul Body

Yao Chen tells the Soul Hall that its soul restraints are useless against him, and says the old debt will be counted today. The Soul Hall answers with a three-stage soul lock. The subtitles also name the Ancient Emperor Jade of Tuoshe as a Hall of Souls target, though the exact link to the wider plot is unclear in this episode.

Yunshan Spends His Strength

Yunshan uses Air Brake Forgetting Iron and the Mountain Opening Seal, a technique that drains an enormous amount of fighting strength. Xiao Yan says Yunshan's skills are not weak, but Yunshan still cannot finish him in one stroke. Yao Chen admits he cannot compete with a Dou Zong for long, so the fight becomes a race against his own limits.

A Bone Spirit Hidden in the Ring

Xiao Yan activates the Glazed Lotus Heart Fire, which he says carries a bone spirit hidden inside a ring. He thanks his mentor for the precaution, then declares that the revenge from three years ago ends today. The episode closes on the Fire Lotus of Buddha, leaving the outcome for the next stage.
