Battle Through The Heavens Season 5 Episode 3

Episode 3 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

A Torn Map Forces Xiao Yan Out

The episode opens with bad news for Xiao Yan: the Demon Lotus Fire Refining Map has torn, and he is no longer sure he can refine the Demon Fire it was meant for. Facing cunning rivals at the auction, he deliberately holds back and withdraws from the competition. Stepping away is not a defeat for him. It keeps his options open while he watches for a chance to win something else.

The Last Lot Arrives in a Jade Box

The auctioneer brings out the final treasure, a jade box that gives off a chill. The crowd guesses it is a pill, most likely a seventh-grade one, since its value would surpass earth-level combat skills. It is the Mystic Dragon Yin Yang Pill. Refining it takes two Dragon Demon Beast Cores that died no more than seven days earlier, and each core must be at least level 6. Its main effect is not to raise strength directly. It lets a practitioner survive a breakthrough.

Why Fengxian's Story Sets the Price

To show why the pill matters, the staff recall Fengxian. As a Five-Star Dou Zong, he fought old enemies and won, but he was gravely injured and his life was in danger. He had saved a Mystic Dragon Yin Yang Pill beforehand, and it let him survive the breakthrough that followed. He later became a Dou Zun. Gold coins can no longer measure the pill's worth, so the seller sets two conditions for any buyer, and the staff say a capable customer should be able to meet them.

Manager Hu Settles Accounts and the Gate Master Notices

Manager Hu settles the proceeds from three Green Spirit Pills with Xiao Yan, who gives his name as Yao Yan. After the repair cost of an Earth Grade Fire Furnace and a 10 percent handling fee are taken out, 930 thousand remains. The Gate Master of the Eight Gates then asks to meet him, but Xiao Yan says he has other matters to attend to. The Gate Master, Yuan Yi, concludes that three pills of that quality point to a high-level Alchemist and orders followers to find out who he really is.

An Ambush in the Woods on the Return Trip

On the road back, Elder Qing's escort is attacked in the woods. The Blood Sect has come to take the pill, and Elder Qing refuses to hand it over. A strong hidden breath then appears, and someone sends the young master Ling'er ahead with escorts toward Muzhi City. The Blood Sect had counted on a sneak attack, and the unseen power in the woods makes that plan far less certain.

Black Skull Tomb Shadows the Path

Further along the mountain path, the party senses a group from the Black Skull Tomb: six fighters, two of them Dou Ling practitioners and one a Da Dou Shi, with the rest at Dou Shi level. The escort reads them as tracking the party's route rather than setting a trap, and the leader orders a fast response. A Blood Sect disciple is told to leave no one alive. The episode closes on a mocking exchange in which one fighter reveals that he had been watching the others for a long time.
