Episode 10 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Xiao Yan Is Chosen as Captain

After parting ways with Teacher Ruo Lin and Xiao Yu, Xiao Yan and the other new disciples are escorted into the Inner Courtyard for a final fire energy hunting test in a forest. The team has just watched the Heisha group defeat a rival team in a single move, and it realizes it cannot survive alone against the seniors. Xun'er says she trusts Xiao Yan this time, and Bai Shan grudgingly agrees to let him lead. Xiao Yan promises the group will not leave anyone to fight alone, and he asks everyone to set their disagreements aside.

Interrogating a Senior Group in the Forest

Xiao Yan uses soul perception to judge the strength of the senior groups and picks a weaker one to drop. Once the juniors catch a senior group, they press it for answers, dragging one member off to question him. The senior reveals that there are 35 seniors split into seven groups of five. Four groups are roughly equal in strength to the juniors. The two strongest are Heisha, dressed all in black with captain Shatie, and Baisha, dressed all in white with captain Luo Hou. The new disciples have learned who they must avoid.

The Pagoda and the Fire Energy Rewards

The senior explains that the Inner Courtyard hands out fire energy as a seven-day living allowance at the start of each month. There is also a sky-burning qi refining pagoda, where cultivation gains double with half the effort. Other ways to earn fire energy include sweeping pagodas, copying scrolls, hunting monsters and challenging other students. The fastest route, however, is to enter the Inner Courtyard strongest list. Xiao Yan's group takes the fire crystal card the senior is carrying, which shows how much the juniors need the fire energy to train.

A Hunt That Turns Into a Trap

Xiao Yan's team decides to hunt other seniors, reasoning that if the seniors can rob them, they can rob the seniors too. Another group recalls that last year's top five were defeated by an Inner Courtyard senior team, and it calls Xiao Yan's group a bunch of arrogant newcomers who need to learn the rules. Xiao Yan's team chases the target, but then the ambush comes from the seniors, and Wu Hao's name is called just as the attack lands. The juniors realize they have walked into a stealthy trap.
