Episode 177 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Xiao Yan meets the sealed patriarch

Xiao Yan reaches the bottom of the Nine Nether Underworld after escaping a siege by a group of strange snakes. There he meets Yao Ming, a former patriarch of the Nine Nether Earth Demon Snake Clan who has been persecuted for years. Yao Ming survives, thanks Xiao Yan for his help, and promises to use the clan's power to repay him.

Yao Xiaotian rushes to finish the job

When Yao Xiaotian senses that Yao Ming's seal has been broken, he hurries to the Nine Nether Underworld to kill his brother and hide his crime. Cai Lin and two other women fight a Saint-level opponent to protect the group. Xiao Yan returns to find his companions badly hurt, and then he faces Yao Xiaotian directly. Blazing Fire, Underworld Finger and Great Heaven Creation Palm clash, and Xiao Yan's palm breaks Yao Xiaotian's Yellow Spring Finger.

A seal of the Nine Nether Underworld

Yao Xiaotian turns to a seal of the Nine Nether Underworld, which he claims can lock the fighting spirit of anyone it strikes. The seal is meant to work even against a young fighter. Yao Xiaotian's elders warn that Yao Ming is not dead yet and that this is Yao Ming's man. The chief orders the guards and tribal leaders to stand by, and no one is allowed to approach without his command.

The lost staff and the clan split

Yao Ming accuses Yao Xiaotian of harming his own brother and calls on three elders who were once close to him to recognize him. He holds up the Nine Nether Ghost Staff, the patriarch's token that went missing a hundred years ago, and says Yao Xiaotian swallowed it. The elders split: one argues that Yao Ming, as the former patriarch, should hold the staff, while another says Yao Xiaotian has served the clan well for years.

A hundred years of imprisonment

Yao Ming counts the pain of a hundred years of imprisonment and asks why all the clan's cultivation resources favored his brother. He says he was forced to live in his brother's shadow. A cunning figure is then revealed to have abandoned its body and hidden inside a doppelganger to escape, and Yao Ming is left to deal with it.
