Battle Through The Heavens Season 5 Episode 6

Episode 6 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

A Late-Night Reunion With Xun'er

The episode opens with Xiao Yan and Xun'er, who have been apart for two years, talking all night. Xiao Yan knows the power behind Xun'er has nothing to do with his father's disappearance, so he settles on two goals: grow stronger as fast as possible and keep searching for his father. Those goals shape how he approaches the matches that follow.

Academy Elders Weigh the Alchemist Prodigy

Xiao Yan steps out in front of a crowd of elders. Among them is the outer courtyard's vice president, and the Vice Dean is also at the peak Dou Huang level. One elder, Old Huo, notes that Xiao Yan recently won the championship of the Jiama Kingdom Alchemist Conference and that his future would be unlimited if he had a proper teacher. Teacher Ruo Lin then explains that the Medicine Refining Division answers to no one in the academy, not even the Vice Dean, and that the Law Enforcement Team's special powers caused the bloody clash with Black Horn Domain. Xiao Yan thanks him for the warning, which shows how tangled the academy's internal power really is.

Lu Mu Enters the Ring

Xiao Yan's opponent is Lu Mu, a top disciple of the Medicine Refining Division and a Da Dou Shi at roughly three-star strength, ranked in the outer courtyard's top 10. The crowd expects Lu Mu to win easily. Lu Mu says he will hold back so Xiao Yan is not hurt, and Xiao Yan replies that he has his own goal of reaching the top five. Once the match begins, Lu Mu's sword cannot touch Xiao Yan's body, and Lu Mu admits he underestimated him.

Xiao Yan Splits His Flame

Lu Mu then reveals his real edge: he works with fire more than douqi. His blue fire is strong enough to injure a Dou Ling practitioner. Xiao Yan answers with fire of his own, and the key moment comes when he splits it in two. The first flame weakens Lu Mu's defense, while the second hides in the ground as a trap Lu Mu does not see coming. The exchange is close, and the armor douqi Xiao Yan forms across his chest helps him hold against the piercing flames. Lu Mu concedes that winning and losing are normal in a contest, and Xiao Yan takes the round.

Wu Hao of the Law Enforcement Team Is Named Next

The episode closes by naming the next fight: Yan Chen against Wu Hao of the outer courtyard's Law Enforcement Team. Wu Hao is nicknamed the blood asura and is a strong candidate to lead the team. Over the past two years, at least a hundred people from the Black Corner Domain have died in his hands, so the crowd is warned not to underestimate him. His reputation sets up a much harder test than the alchemy duel that just ended.
