Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Xiao Yan Catches the Phoenix Army

After refining the Demon Saint's essence blood, Xiao Yan reaches the late stage of One-Star Dou Sheng and says goodbye to Cai Lin before heading out to reinforce Zi Yan. Meanwhile, the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan's Supreme Elder has led a large force to strike East Dragon Island, and most of the people he sent are experienced elders. Xiao Yan and his group catch up with the army, and the two sides lock into a fierce fight.

Two Elders Fall to Heaven-Rank Techniques

Kunhuang and the other Phoenix elders expect an easy win, but Xiao Yan keeps unleashing Heaven-rank battle techniques, and the Phoenix side realizes his strength is far beyond what it looked like. When the Yellow Springs Palm lands, the elders Kunying and Ersheng are defeated. Yao Ming fights alongside him, and the Phoenix side is shocked that a one-star Dou Sheng could overpower two Dou Sheng-level elders.

The Heavenly Phoenix Clan Steps In

The young patriarch of the Heavenly Phoenix Clan arrives and begs Xiao Yan to stop, promising to agree to almost any terms. He says his clan has long held grudges against the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan, but it has no wish to be dragged into a war. Xiao Yan sets the terms: the Heavenly Phoenix Clan must stay out of the Taixu Ancient Dragon Clan's internal strife. He keeps Jiufeng and two others as hostages until that conflict ends, and promises to keep them safe as long as the Phoenix side keeps its word.

Hostages and the Road Ahead

The defeated Heavenly Demon Phoenix elders are sent back, and Xiao Yan warns that the Phoenix clan will be watched closely. Xiao Yan's group then turns its attention to the three Dragon Islands, which can contend with East Dragon Island only if they join forces. The hostage arrangement buys time, but the mission to protect East Dragon Island is still unfinished.
