Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Choosing the Soul Origin Fruit quest

Once Xiao Yan learns that a Soul Origin Fruit lies within ancient remains that surfaced in the Beast Region, he resolves to bring it back for Yao Chen. Ancient remains are the legacy of great powers from the distant past, packed with hidden treasures, and every opening sparks a storm of bloodshed. Droves of elites are already heading there, so the race for the fruit will be brutal. Yao Chen and Old Feng send him off with a map of the ruins, and Qingluan agrees to travel with him because her tribe lives in the Beast Region.

Qingluan maps the Beast Region

Qingluan explains that nearly 70 percent of the continent's Magical Beast Tribes gather in the Beast Region. Its three great tribes are the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python, the Heaven Demon Phoenix and the Void Ancient Dragon. The destination, Skeleton Mountain Range, sits inside Nine Serene Deep Ground Python territory, and that tribe has the most subordinate tribes. Qingluan warns that the Heaven Demon Phoenix Tribe forbids its Essence Blood from falling into outsiders' hands, so meeting one of its elites would mean trouble. Her own tribe commands nearly ten subordinate tribes, so the trip should go smoothly as long as they avoid the Phoenix.

A standoff over the camp

At the ruins, Falling Star Pavilion is locked in a dispute with Wind Lightning Pavilion over a camp. Elder Hu reports that Venerate Lei brought people to seize their base and push them out to this remote spot. Xiao Yan steps in as Young Pavilion Leader, and Lei recognizes him at once. Lei recalls that he spared Xiao Yan only because of Venerate Feng, and he vows to make him pay. Xiao Yan replies that the base has always belonged to Falling Star Pavilion. When the Wind Lightning side sees four Fight Venerates standing together, it admits it cannot win the fight, and Lei promises to repay the humiliation one day.

Elder Hu's warning about the ruins

Once camp is set up, Elder Hu reports that the ancient remains are full of intricate traps and guarded by powerful ancient puppets. The spatial seal around them dissipates after today, and the group plans to enter the moment it opens, before others take the Soul Origin Fruit. Elder Hu puts the odds of the Hall of Souls joining in at about 80 percent. He also notes that the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Tribe is in trouble, because its elites, including Fight Venerates, have been vanishing one after another.

A green-clothed attacker strikes Zi Yan

Xiao Yan rushes to check on Zi Yan after an attack, and she brushes off the concern. The attacker escapes before anyone can catch her. A Nine Serene Deep Ground Python patrol captain arrives, notes that the fighting aura came from this place, and considers bringing the person back for questioning. The trail has already run deep into the forest, so the captain orders a chase. He then wonders whether the green-clothed figure is the mysterious person who recently threw his tribe into chaos. The open question is why she targeted Zi Yan.
