Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Xiao Yan Returns and Names His Real Target

Xiao Yan comes back with great strength after dealing with the Yunlan Sect disciples and resolving the Miter family crisis. He meets the remaining Xiao family members and vows revenge on the Yunlan Sect, which he says can only end when the sect is wiped out. Before that, he has to remove one obstacle: Gu He, a level six Master of Medicine. If Gu He joins the Yunlan Sect, he could recruit more than five imperial masters.

A Bidding War Over Ice Fire Snake Fruit

At the reopened family auction house, Xiao Yan competes for the Ice Fire Snake Fruit against Elder Fu Yan, a fifth level Medicine Master who also holds Dou Wang strength. Fu Yan accuses the staff of breaking an earlier order, and the bidding climbs until Xiao Yan wins with a bid of 100,000 gold coins. Fu Yan's younger companion then insults Xiao Yan's teacher, and Xiao Yan answers by refusing to let the insult stand.

Fa Ma Steps In and Recognizes Xiao Yan

President Fa Ma of the Medicine Teachers Association arrives to stop the standoff before it spills into a larger fight. He reminds the crowd that the association cannot afford to lose a fifth level Medicine Master, then greets Xiao Yan as an old acquaintance. Fa Ma admits that he was once Xiao Yan's teacher's student, and he is willing to join the fight against the Yunlan Sect.

Allies Pledge Their Support Against the Yunlan Sect

In the hall, Xiao Yan lays out his plan. He says the Yunlan Sect is the seed of the empire's problems and that the imperial troops could fall into its hands if it takes the leadership role. Even with many Dou Wang and Dou Zong masters on his side, he puts his chances at only 50 percent. The royal family, the Mu family and the Nalan family agree to fight, but Princess Yaoye is warned not to act out of impulse.

The Wedding Sets the Clock

Yafei reports that Yun Shan will hold a wedding for Gu He and Yun Yun in two days, so the attack must be fast. Medusa, whose douqi was sealed by Yun Shan, confronts Xiao Yan about the Sky Swallowing Python soul and the Spirit Recovery Pills that could free her from its influence. Xiao Yan admits he is not entirely sure of victory and says he will leave the rest to fate.
