Battle Through The Heavens Season 5 Episode 73

Episode 73 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

The Poison Hidden in Xiao Yan's Body

With Scorpion Mountain dead and the war turning in the heroes' favor, the danger shifts to Xiao Yan. He searches his body and at first finds nothing wrong, but the group soon learns that the attack was the Demonic Poison Spot, a dangerous technique from the Chiyun Empire. Its user sacrifices their own life to plant poisonous energy in an enemy, which spreads until the victim dies in endless pain. Xiao Yan admits that even as a Battle Emperor he cannot remove it on his own, so the question becomes who could.

A Cure That Does Not Exist

The answer from the group is bleak. There is no known cure for the Demonic Poison Spot, and the outbreak will take about half a year to fully appear. Someone suggests the legendary Master Dou might be strong enough to help, but nobody can point to him. The only realistic goal is to delay the poison, which turns the rest of the episode into a search for time rather than a cure.

A Temporary Seal from Medusa

Xiao Yan wakes after two days in a coma to find Medusa holding the poison back. She explains that she is drawing the curse through her own veins, using her Ernan poison and Xiao Yan's strange fire to buy him time. Medusa warns that this sealing technique can only be used once, so it will not work a second time. Their plan is to use the window to find the strongest master they can within two years.

Interrogating the Soul Hall Envoy

While Xiao Yan recovers, he questions the captured Soul Hall envoy. The prisoner admits he is only a low-ranking guard and names a Dao Defender who ranks above him as a Prefecture Guardian. He says even the Heavenly Guardians have never seen the Hall Master. The envoy knows only one branch, located in the Tian Xin Empire on the northwest border. The information is useful, but it also shows how large the Soul Hall network really is.

Plans and Farewells

Xiao Yan considers asking the Dean of the Canaan School for help, though the Dean is rarely seen in the imperial house. Medusa wants to travel with him, but he refuses to let her risk her life again, and her clan needs her at home. The two part at a safe border spot between the Warcraft Mountains and the Gamar Empire. Xiao Yan promises to return, and the episode ends with the poison still waiting in his body.
