Xiao Yan Reaches Dou Huang

After holding the key, Xiao Yan is in exile while he prepares for the next guardian promotion. Just as he successfully advances to Dou Huang, he gains the ability to use his soul power.

The Teacher Is Alive in the Soul Hall

Xiao Yan sees his teacher imprisoned in the Soul Hall, and the soul shock he feels is stronger than the Guardian Flock's. He takes comfort in the fact that the teacher is still alive, since that keeps a chance open for everything. Cai Lin, meanwhile, has gone back to deal with trouble in the Snake Clan, and Xiao Yan decides to protect Ziyan while he waits. The Soul Hall's strength is still a serious threat that he cannot ignore.

Poison Gas Rolls Into a City

The air around a city feels too quiet, and it carries a strange, poisonous smell that spreads quickly. The defenders are told to open the gate and surrender, but the attackers go back on their word once the poison has taken hold. Xiao Yan arrives as Alliance Leader and has the elixir mixed into water for the poisoned people, which saves many lives.

A Three-Way War Closes In

Uncle Kagan explains that the Poison Sect has joined the Golden Wild Goose Sect and Mulan Valley to infiltrate the empire. Three allied forces are already at the foot of the Montenegrin fortress, and the Three Federations have entered the Jia Ma Empire. With the war spreading this far, Xiao Yan decides he cannot stay any longer.

Yue Mei Confronts Xiao Yan

Commander Yue Mei of the Snake Clan recognizes Xiao Yan and accuses him of being irresponsible as the Flame Alliance leader, since he did not show up after a major incident. She says that without His Majesty, the Yan Alliance and the Jia Ma Empire would have been destroyed by the three allied powers. She describes the Poison Sect leader as nearly as strong as His Majesty, while the Golden Wild Goose Sect leader is a true Dou Zong and Mulan Valley has three peak Dou Huang experts. The Montenegrin fortress is now in danger, and Cai Lin is injured.
