Episode 30 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Bai Cheng tries to drain Xiao Yan's Douqi

The Strong List Contest begins in the inner courtyard of Jianan Academy, and Xiao Yan draws Bai Cheng again. Bai Cheng knows he cannot win on raw power, so he spends the match consuming Xiao Yan's Douqi and wearing him down. He also fights with a little-known battle technique called Eight Cracks of the Bloody Ground, plus a secret method for boosting strength, which surprises the crowd. Xiao Yan finally condenses the Heavenly Flame Armor and uses the power of the Heavenly Flame to defeat him. Someone close to Fei'er warns that anyone who underestimates Xiao Yan will meet the same fate as Bai Cheng.

Lin Xiuya's snake-coil technique wins its bout

The second round of the Strong List competition officially starts, and participant number three, Lin Xiuya, takes the sand first. Lin Xiuya has two unique skills, the trapper and the Big Dipper star. The first, called the snake's coiled hand, suppresses an opponent at very close range and stops them from using their own attacks. Lin Xiuya is also the fighter who defeated Liu Qing earlier, when Liu Qing's Great Split Coffin Claw, a technique he had refined for over 20 years, failed to get through. Lin Xiuya wins, and the match makes clear that the top bracket is full of styles that are hard to read.

Xiao Yan takes to the air against Yao Sheng

Xiao Yan's next opponent is Yao Sheng, a strong melee fighter who holds a higher ranking on the list. Yao Sheng expects the arena's limited space to work in his favour. Xiao Yan opens with the first of three mysterious Heavenly Flame changes, the green lotus, and matches Yao Sheng's speed, strength and combat sense. The turning point comes when he summons Douqi Wings and rises off the ground. A flying combat skill is rare, and it leaves Yao Sheng with no clean way to reach him.

Ghost thorn and the golden lion tiger seal the win

Once Xiao Yan is above the ground, he keeps the pressure on with the ghost thorn, a move the crowd describes as toxic, and then the golden lion tiger. Yao Sheng's speed is suppressed, and he is left fighting an opponent who refuses to come down. Xiao Yan finishes the duel with the octadic crush, and the match goes to him. The onlookers are impressed, and one remark sums up the mood: a youngster under 20 who looks as if he has already reached the Dou Wang level. The win shows that his flight-based combat is more than a trick.
