Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Family news from outside the sect

The news reaches Xiao Yan that the Yunlan Sect wants to wipe out the Xiao family from its roots, attacking the Xiao family and the Motie Mercenary Group. The Hall of Souls even sends an emissary to hunt the Ancient Emperor Tuoshe Jade. Xiao Yan feels deep guilt at the thought of his relatives covered in blood, but he faces a clear power gap and chooses to stay silent for a while. He and Xiao Li begin their journey with a shared goal: to revitalize the Xiao family, so that the humiliation it suffered will one day be repaid many times over.

Yao Sheng's challenge in the inner court

Someone points out Yao Sheng, a member of the Lieshan gang who trains in the same place. Yao Sheng is already a 7-star Dou Ling and ranks 17th on the Strong List, which is stronger than Bai Cheng. He has feelings for Liu Fei, so he is eager to teach Xiao Yan a lesson. Xiao Yan, still a 2-star Dou Ling, is the disciple who has been cleared to enter the sixth floor, and the inner court is surprised by how fast he has risen.

A Whale Water Wall and the Heavenly Flame

Yao Sheng attacks with the Whale Water Wall, a water combat technique that is a man's unique method. Xiao Yan's Heavenly Flame dissipates the erosive Douqi attribute of the technique, and it nearly leaves Yao Sheng seriously injured. Ziyan steps in, declaring that Xiao Yan is her person and no one may touch him. She offers to help, but Xiao Yan insists he can finish the fight himself, and the clash is ended as a warning instead of a fight to the death.

The pagoda shakes and Elder Su steps in

The energy inside the Burning Heaven Qi Pagoda suddenly turns violent, and the disciples are ordered out until it reopens. The Flame of the Fallen Heart is believed to be the cause. The elders reinforce the seal, and the tremor gradually weakens. Elder Su, the leader of the inner court's elders, asks Xiao Yan to help if he is able, and he reminds him not to mention the pagoda to strangers. Xiao Yan promises to keep the matter to himself.

One month later, stars and a gift

One month later, a clan member is due to collect Xun'er, and the patriarch once again suspects a bond between her and Xiao Yan. That night, Xiao Yan finds Xun'er alone under the stars. They talk about the hard years behind them, and she says she will protect him in her own way and wants to always be with her brother. She gives him a gift, and the shooting star they see becomes a wish. Xiao Yan closes by vowing to place among the top ten.
