Episode 205 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

The Pharmacopoeia Opens at Shennong Mountains

The Pharmacopoeia is organized by the Medicine Clan, but its contestants come from far beyond the clan, including top pharmacists from the Dou Qi Continent. The event is about legacy and prestige for alchemists everywhere. Chen Er's method of purification stresses state of mind, since an anxious or angry heart dries out the fire. Someone in the group notes that the energy of heaven and earth is rich at Shennong Mountains, a land the ancestor of medicine spent centuries testing. The crowd of invited guests grows, and the event is called the most solemn gathering for medical experts.

Yao Chen Is Announced at the Gate

Outside the gate, guests are sorted into classes of three, six or nine, and a guard tells the crowd to wait in line. Nobody should even think about entering the Medicine Clan gate without an invitation. The announcer calls out Yao Chen as leader of the Heavenly Mansion Alliance, invited to attend. The crowd recognizes the disciple at his side as the Xiao Yan who defeated the soul torture shop owner, and remembers that the clan once expelled Yao Chen, its former minister of medicine, before he rose to lead a great alliance. That contrast sets up the confrontation waiting at the monument.

The Outcast Teacher Returns to the Clan Monument

Yao Chen heads to the clan monument to leave the names of his parents, the two elders. Medicine Clan elders object, calling him an outcast and saying that angry people have no right to leave words on the monument. One elder tells him to go to the monument and leave the two elders' names alone, then insults the old and suggests they belong in nursing homes. The elders order the guards to chase both of them away. Xiao Yan tells his teacher to leave everything to him, and the argument turns into an open fight.

Xiao Yan Stops Elder Wanhuo's Dragon Slayer Palm

The fight escalates until Xiao Yan stops a Dragon Slayer Palm with a bare-footed move. The crowd sees that one elder has lost, Elder Wanhuo, who had shot six stars in a row. Some Medicine Clan members call for Xiao Yan to be killed, while others demand that he apologize to the teacher. The fight becomes a question of honor, and the stakes shift to whether the Pharmacopoeia's rules will be respected.

The Clan Host Calls for Restraint and an Invitation

The clan's host steps in and asks Xiao Yan to let the matter go for the sake of the Medicine Clan, since today is a big day. Because Elder Wanhuo came forward himself, the host says he will take the responsible team leader and scold him severely. The host then invites the group up the mountain, and notes that Xiao Yan once won a championship at the Dan Club. If Xiao Yan stands out in this Pharmacopoeia, he could earn the honor of best alchemist. The invitation ends the standoff but raises the stakes of the competition.
