Episode 197 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Xiao Yan Rushes Back to the Alliance

Xiao Yan leaves the Demon Fire Room with Xun'er after subduing the Pure Lotus Demonic Flame, worried for his comrades, and hurries back to the alliance. The alliance has accepted the Soul Clan's challenge for a decisive battle, and the old doctor fears his own fighting strength will not hold against the attack. News of the duel spreads across Zhongzhou, and every power turns its eyes toward Fallen Peak.

Terms of the Two-of-Three Duel

A Soul Clan voice mocks the Xiao clan for producing someone comparable to Xiao Xuan, adding that the Soul Clan made Xiao Xuan perish first. Xiao Yan is asked whether he dares to accept the challenge. The alliance warns that a full-scale war would cost the Soul Clan a huge loss, eight or nine times out of ten, so the choice is between that and a limited contest. The settled format is two wins in three games, with three fighters each.

Xiao Chen Answers the Soul Clan

Xiao Chen steps forward as one of the three fighters, mocking the Soul Clan as ants. A Soul Clan figure answers that Xiao Chen is still arrogant and once begged the clan leader for forgiveness. Xiao Chen replies that he is no longer the Blood Axe of old, and that the Soul side is no match for him now.

Ancestors Step Into the Fray

Hun Qianmo, a six-star Dou Sheng, is described as the strongest figure on the Soul side, and no one seems able to compete with him. Danta is counted as a member of the Heavenly Mansion Alliance, and the alliance warns that if one person is harmed, everyone will be harmed. As guardian of the Tower, the ancestor says he cannot remain uninvolved.

Xiao Chen's Blood Axe Meets the Old Ghost

Xiao Chen's Blood Axe clashes with a Soul Clan opponent, using techniques such as The Slash That Split the Earth and Sky Slash, while Heavenly Demon Blood Gu and Frog Soul Gu join the fight. The first bout ends in a draw, and so does the next. A Soul side speaker says Elder Soul Demon was overconfident, and that jumping straight into a full-scale war would have saved a lot of trouble.

The Pure Lotus Demonic Flame Draws Attention

With the bouts stuck in a draw, the Soul side faces a dilemma, since losing would mean explaining it to the clan. Someone warns the others not to let their guard down, pointing out that Xiao Yan now has the Pure Lotus Demonic Flame. A prince on the Soul side says he wants to see the devil fire for himself and asks how much power it truly holds.
