Battle Through The Heavens Season 5 Episode 18

Episode 18 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Hidden ties between the Yunlan Sect and the Hall of Souls

A quiet conversation turns to the Yunlan Sect and the power that has been gathering in the Jiama empire. The people involved believe the Yunlan Sect has secret contact with the Hall of Souls, and they suspect this link explains the disappearance of Uncle Xiao. The Xiao family holds part of a key, so the group behind this already knows about the family's ties and still acts recklessly. Their decision is to keep Xiao Yan in the dark until he is strong enough to stand against the Yunlan Sect.

The Ancient Emperor Tuoshe Jade

Xiao Yan spots the Ancient Emperor Tuoshe Jade in Xun'er's hands, and she explains that the elders gave it to her to keep. She is told never to show it, because only a handful of people on the continent know of it, and anyone else who learned of it would face immediate death. The jade is also a symbol of the Xiao family's patriarchal status, and right now it is the only clue to whether Uncle Xiao is still alive. A teacher later admits he has only heard faint rumors, but he says the jade may be tied to Tuoshe, a figure so powerful he could be called a god.

Pan Gate runs out of fire energy

Pan Gate's fire energy has almost run dry, and members are now being paid from the leaders' own pockets. Much of it was spent on Xiao Yan's training in the pagoda, and Xun'er reports that the supply is nearly sold out. The fix Xiao Yan proposes is simple: sell pills in the inner court, earn fire energy from the sales, and use it to buy the medicinal materials the sect needs. Among the goods on offer is a Green Wood Celestial Rattan, which is needed to refine an Earth Spirit Pill, and its price is 400 days of fire energy.

A deal over the fire poison

Lin Yan, who has carried fire poison for about a year and a half, cannot afford that price. Xiao Yan offers a different deal: he will clear the poison from Lin Yan's body, and Lin Yan will hand over the green wood rattan. He first gives Lin Yan ice spirit pills, fifteen in total, which suppress the poison and keep it from reaching his mind. Lin Yan promises to hold up his end, but he is told the poison must be removed completely, not just held back for a while.

181 pills and the White Gang at the door

After a night of refining, the batch is finished: 83 Qi Restoration Pills, 62 body recovery pills and 36 pure ice tablets, 181 in total. Xiao Yan hands the sales work to Atai, Tiemu and others, who split the pills into categories and double-check every count. The inner court's medicine division takes notice, since Pan Gate's pills are both cheaper and better, and it plans to buy up the ingredients Pan Gate uses. Lin Yan promises to help guard the sect against the White Gang and even Lin Xiuya the Wolf Fang. The episode closes as White Gang leader Bai Cheng asks for a meeting.
