Episode 17 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

A Training Room Fight Ends in Fines

Xiao Yan goes to the lower level of the Sky Burning Qi Pagoda to train, and he is interrupted by Liu Fei, Lei Na and their group. Lei Na, a four-star Dou Spirit, fights him, and the Buddha's Wrath Fire Lotus blooms again. An elder named He arrives and stops the clash. Xiao Yan says he paid the fire energy for an empty room, while Lei Na broke down the door. The ruling is that Lei Na owes 30 days of fire energy within three days or be barred from the pagoda for a month. Liu Fei owes 10 days, and Xiao Yan owes 5 days as a warning.

Elders Discuss a Restless Power

Behind the scenes, two elders discuss a creature that is becoming unstable again, with energy fluctuations growing stronger. They fear it could lead to a great counterattack in the coming years. The Dean is away exploring, and no one knows where he is, while the main troops of the Black Corner Domain are moving in the north. The creature must not be exposed, or the Black Corner Domain would rush to seize it. Elder Liu reports that Xiao Yan is still training in the pagoda and does not seem troubled by fire poison, so the elders decide to ease his path.

Four Days Without Food or Rest

Xiao Yan has been practicing in the pagoda for almost four days without eating or drinking, which the other disciples find strange. Word spreads that he is the president of this year's new student group and that even Fu Ao of the White Gang lost to him. The elders warn others not to pressure him about his promotion. Xiao Yan notes that the Fallen Heart Flame works like a separate body that speeds up his improvement, and he decides to head back to check on Xun'er and the others.

Pan Gate Takes Shape Outside the Pagoda

Back outside, Xiao Yan finds that several former seniors have joined Pan Gate after watching his fight with Lei Na and Liu Fei. Xun'er has asked for a distinctive Pan Gate badge, so members can feel confident in their group. Pan Gate's guard group keeps watch over the inn, with six people on standby for emergencies. Members who take on a three-day full vigil receive a day of fire energy as payment. Xun'er has done this well, and Xiao Yan is surprised at how much she has managed in just four days.

Elder Ling Reveals a Quiet Watch

Xiao Yan is then taken to meet Elder Ling, who explains that he has been secretly protecting Xiao Yan since he left Wutan City, following orders from his lady. He has found no strong person entering the Jiama Empire in recent months. Elder Ling says Xiao Yan's father's disappearance has nothing to do with his clan, and that someone else must have done it. He suspects Yunlan Sect and promises to investigate and reveal the truth. The episode ends with Elder Ling noting secret contacts between the powers gathering in the empire and Soul Hall.
