Seal trials and a fallback

The seal's trials hit most of the crowd once the ancient ruins open. The Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan turns on Xiao Yan and his friends, but Tang Zhen of Burning Flame Valley brings help, and the Phoenix side pulls back for now. Xiao Yan then works through a series of obstacles and secures the Soul Origin Fruit, the key goal of the trip. Attention shifts to Zi Yan, who feels a call from ancient powers.

The Spiritual Monster's cover

Zi Yan and Xiao Yan reach the heart of the ancient forest, where a ruined wall hides a Spiritual Monster cover. Such a cover forms only when a strong monster dies, and its energy points to an owner that may be a Taixu Ancient Dragon. The cover also carries a Heavenly Demon Phoenix aura, so the group concludes that both kinds of monster died in one great war. The Ancient Phoenix, it seems, was far weaker in vitality than the Taixu Ancient Dragon.

A Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit and a standoff

Inside, the group confirms a Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit, which had been known only from ancient Taixu Ancient Dragon texts. One speaker insists the fruit must go back to Dragon Island and must never fall to the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan, or a Dragon Phoenix descendant could threaten their side. A Heavenly Demon Phoenix speaker demands that Xiao Yan withdraw his people or die here, and Xiao Yan answers that the Phoenix side is not yet qualified. The argument quickly turns into a fight.

Ancestral spirits clash

The Phoenix side moves to awaken ancestral spirits. Qing'er readies a formation that uses blood as a contract and the contract as a talisman. The spirits clash with the Taixu Ancient Dragon's ancestral spirit, which proves far too powerful, and the attempt fails. Huang Xuan orders the group to step back, wait until the rivals leave the cover, and look for another chance at the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit. Zi Yan admits the ancestral spiritual energy was simply too strong for them.

Chasing a Heaven Grade technique into a pill trap

The group next turns to a Heaven Grade combat technique, which they hope to find nearby. Zi Yan is drawn toward an irresistible pill fragrance, but the area is full of poisonous gas that can erode Douqi, so everyone takes an antidote pill before going in. Inside, they find a Pill Monster, a high-grade pill that has taken shape and gained intelligence. It lives on pills, and the group's alchemist argues it will not run away. One of them offers a seventh-grade pill as an apology for the trouble.
