Episode 120 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Xiao Yan Wins First Place and Faces a Night Attack

Xiao Yan breaks the highest record that has survived for years, passes the soul tests, and wins the final round against the talented Cao Ying. That result keeps the Ye family's elder seat at the Pill Pagoda secure. While Xiao Yan is practicing soul techniques for the Pill Conference, a figure from the Hall of Souls appears and asks him to hand over the Heart of the Sea Flame and the Burning Spell that came with it. Xiao Yan refuses, and the attacker launches Liuhe waves and fire-devouring waves at him.

Xuan Kongzi Interferes

Xuan Kongzi arrives and tells the attacker that the matter has nothing to do with the Pill Pagoda, but the attacker is not moved and warns that the Hall of Souls will not leave Shengdan City quietly. Xuan Kongzi's real body is not present, so he can only use his soul to hold the attacker back. He drives the intruder off, and the attacker vows to come back later. Xuan Kongzi then tells Xiao Yan to be careful and to watch out for the Xuanming Sect, which may have leaked his information to the Hall of Souls.

Han Feng Names the Hall of Souls Master

Xiao Yan questions Han Feng about who received the Heart of the Sea Flame. Han Feng admits he handed it to a Hall of Souls man, but he never saw that man's true face. Under more pressure, he reveals the figure is called Old Man Mu Gu, a Dou Zun and an eighth-grade alchemist who once studied at the same academy as Yao Chen. Mu Gu was expelled, joined the Hall of Souls, and turned bitter toward Yao Chen. He is the one who pushed Han Feng into betraying the Pill Pagoda master for the Burning Spell.

Yao Chen's Captivity and the Pill Conference

Xuan Kongzi meets Xiao Yan and explains that he and Yao Chen were close. He reveals that Yao Chen's spirit body was taken by the Hall of Souls and locked away in the Central Plains, so the Pill Pagoda will search for clues. Xuan Kongzi gives Xiao Yan a Millennium Green Sloton, a Blood Demon Fruit and notes on a Spirit Palm technique. The Hall of Souls is also expected to join the Pill Conference, and its real goal is the Three Thousand Burning Flame, which would be devastating if it were released. Xuan Kongzi orders the Pill Pagoda students to keep the Hall of Souls out of the top ten, and Xiao Yan promises to fight with all his strength.
