Episode 109 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Xiao Yan heads to Danyu alone

Xiao Yan says goodbye to his friends and travels to Danyu alone to look for Xiao Yixian. When he learns she was hunted by the Ice River Valley after her vicious poison body erupted, he takes Xinlan from her family and hurries to Luoshen Sword. Xinlan explains that Ice River Valley, one of three valleys alongside Fenyan Valley, cornered them, and that Xiao Yixian led the pursuers away to cover her friends. Xiao Yan says the priority is to get there now, and he wonders where Zi Yan went after leaving a letter that said she had to go home.

Toxic fog and the Ice Honored Mirror

Luoshen Sword is wrapped in toxic fog year-round, and its depths are full of poison beasts. A poison-seeking rat, given to Xinlan by Xiao Yixian, guides them through. Then the Ice River elder Bing Fu strikes Xiao Yixian with the Ice Honored Mirror, leaving residual Xuan Ice that will freeze her life sword art within a month unless the Ice River Valley lord acts. Bing Fu says he will take her back personally, orders his disciples to form an ice-sealing formation, and claims her vicious poison body has not truly peaked.

Xiao Yan arrives late

Xiao Yan arrives late, apologizes to Xiao Yixian, and stands between her and the attackers. Bing Fu dismisses him as a one-star Dou Zhong who dares to strike at Ice River, and orders him cut down. Xiao Yan answers that nobody will hurt her while he is there, and the fight begins. The attacks show that the puppet is being controlled by someone else, which shifts the battle from a rescue into a direct duel.

A Tian Huo senior joins the fight

A Tian Huo senior arrives, grumbling that a troublemaker has dragged his old bones back into fighting. Xiao Yan asks him to deal with the attacker quickly, since his friend is badly hurt, and the senior agrees. Bing Fu now warns the newcomers that Ice River's business has nothing to do with them, and promises to repay them after the fight. The reply is that Ice River's reputation is not as great as it thinks.

Thunder phantoms and the Mo Fan challenge

The fight escalates through the Three Thousand Thunder Phantom Body, Eight Extremes and Silver Light Death, each move drawing stunned reactions. Ice River disciples cannot believe a one-star Dou Zhong is so strong, and the second-star disciples fall short in the exchange. Mo Fan is told to watch his footing up high, then announces that the troublemaker will be finished with eight divine nerves encircling him. The episode closes mid-fight with the outcome still open.
