Episode 106 Full Recap (Spoilers)

Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

A Wormhole Worth Racing For in Tianhuang City

Xiao Yan and Lin Yan leave at once after learning that a space wormhole in Tianhuang City, where Liu Qing is based, can take them straight to the Dan Realm. Liu Qing explains that the Liu family operates the wormhole, but the real power over the surrounding area belongs to Burning Flame Valley, one of the three valleys. The valley's heavenly fire techniques are famous, and the pair is warned not to use the Heavenly Fire Mysterious Three Changes carelessly, because the valley would notice. That warning matters because the valley's influence is what the Liu family has to deal with next.

Burning Flame Valley Puts the Wormhole on the Table

The Liu family is in a bind, since it competes with the Cheng family for control of the wormhole. Valley Master Tang wants a sixth-grade alchemist to refine a high-grade pill, and the valley will hand the wormhole's management for the next three years to whichever family delivers one. Elder Chihuo is not patient. He tells Liu Qing that the Cheng family would take the wormhole if the Liu family cannot produce an alchemist in time, and Liu Qing asks for a few days. Chihuo refuses to wait long, which pushes the Liu family toward the one candidate it has: Xiao Yan.

Xiao Yan Wins the Soul Power Test Against Zeng Xiu

Zeng Xiu, a top alchemist from the Pill Tower, doubts that a young Douzong can really be a sixth-grade alchemist. He sets a soul power contest: if Xiao Yan can drive him off with his soul power, Zeng Xiu will step aside. Xiao Yan wins easily and Zeng Xiu loses. Chihuo confirms that the Liu family holds the Tianhuang wormhole management for three years, and Xiao Yan is named the alchemist representing the Liu family.

Xiao Yan's Cold Flame Outlasts the Nine Dragons Thunder Gang Fire

Chihuo takes Xiao Yan to the valley's base, where Valley Master Tang and his daughter Huo'er meet them. Tang explains that the pill is rated seventh-grade high level and that two alchemists will be screened to help him, chosen from the invited ones. Master Huan and Xiao Yan are put to the test with the Nine Dragons Thunder Gang Fire, a heavenly fire ranked tenth on the heavenly fire list. Huan barely holds on and then passes. Xiao Yan's cold fire, which echoes the bone spirit cold fire, produces fluctuations that stun the elders, and Chihuo says the young man is not simple.

Tang Offers a Reward, and Xiao Yan Is Asked to Choose

With both alchemists cleared, Tang says the pill now has a better chance of success and promises rewards. He hints that a reward could include exercises or fighting skills from the valley, as long as they are not closed secrets. Then he asks Xiao Yan which reward he prefers, and the Heavenly Fire Mysterious Three Changes is among the options. The choice ties back to the earlier warning: the technique the pair had been told not to use carelessly is now on the table as a prize.
