Spoiler warning: this recap covers the whole episode.

Passing the test through rivals' taunts

Xiao Yan refuses to abandon his partner Nalan Yanran despite doubts, and the pair pass the test. While they wait, Mu Qinglun tells him the Honored One will attend the Sifang Pavilion Conference in three months, which gives him a clear deadline. Rivals then pick at him: one says his Three Thousand Thunder Moves are no better than anyone's, and another argues the troupe has nine people for eight places, so the weakest should quit. A member retorts that only Xiao Yan could make them quit.

Fire poison and the energy race

Inside the Tianshan Blood Pool, the group is warned not to go deep, or the fire will notice them. Thunder strikes, a space barrier and fire poison make the terrain hostile, and smoke rolls down over the trees. Xiao Yan finds that the pool's energy affects his soul power, but practicing in place drains it too slowly. Someone then asks how the young man slipped into such a deep section, and the order is to get every energy crystal back before he succeeds.

A teacher's soul mark and a waiting friend

Two and a half months later, the young man is still inside, and everyone else has left except the smoke. A waiting companion, whose own fire poison must be resolved by him, says they will go in if he does not move today. Xiao Yan then speaks to his teacher's soul mark, apologizing for not sparing him suffering. A voice calls him a little guy, praises him for his progress at such a young age, and says he is proud of him.

Qin Tian's offer to join the Soul Hall

Qin Tian mocks Xiao Yan for being unable to stop his soul wave and calls his progress far from enough. Xiao Yan says he will not give up, no matter how hard it is. Qin Tian replies that giving up is his best choice, and asks whether he is afraid. He reminds Xiao Yan that only the shopkeeper's regard for his skill has kept him alive, and urges him to stop resisting and join the Soul Hall. Xiao Yan says he looks forward to the day they meet again.

Breakthrough and the Gu clan question

Xiao Yan becomes the first in the blood pool to break through to Dou Zong, crediting two seniors who provided training grounds. His friend had waited but left before he came out. Xiao Yan thanks the Shijinshu Clan, whose title in the demon world is Bai Xiaosheng, and they offer lifelong friendship and any information he wants. Asked about the Gu clan, they say it has spread across Zhongzhou, and even Soul Hall, Dan Tang and the Demon World fear it. It is a star family passed down since ancient times, said to carry the blood of the Fight God.
